Who We Are

Lisa Atkins

Production Director, Children Instructor, Founder

Lisa Atkins was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Colorado and a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Wichita State University.

With over 20 years of experience teaching K–8 music and theater, she most recently served at Rocky Mountain Christian Academy. She also directed Youth Theater at The Arts HUB in Louisville, Colorado.

Lisa has served as Conductor of the Rocky Mountain Chorale and Assistant Conductor of the Boulder Chorale. For 19 years, she has performed soprano and mezzo-soprano solos and served as vocal coach for the Boulder Messiah Sing-Along.

She is passionate about making music relevant and helping students grow as creative, courageous thinkers. Lisa lives in Erie with her husband, Jason, and their two children, and serves in the youth and music ministries at Calvary Bible Church in Boulder.

Brittny Daboll

Office Manager, Instructor

Brittny Daboll is an actress originating from Alamosa, Co where her love for acting and theatre was first discovered. She decided to pursue theatre in higher education receiving her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree through the Bachelor Accelerated Master’s program (BAM) in Theatre and Performance Studies with CU Boulder specially focusing on Shakespeare, Deaf Theatre, and Teaching. She strongly believes in Theatre Education, Improv, and the profound impact it has on student lives—both in and outside of the theatre world. She got her start teaching with Unitiive Theatre in Longmont, Co. She currently teaches Adult Improv at The Arts HUB in Lafayette, Co, and teaches Teen Improv here at ShoeString Players, as well as managing the “office,” Social Media pages, and the website. You can also find her on stage, performing.

Laura Hickey

Administrative Assistant

Laura Hickey was born and raised in the Bay Area of California, where she grew up performing in community theater. She continued her involvement in theater throughout high school and college. After graduating, she worked in the Box Office at a regional theater company while continuing to perform with her local community theater group.

After relocating to Colorado, Laura met Lisa while performing in Sweeney Todd. She joined ShoeString Players when she was cast as Marmee in Little Women, and has since taken on more behind-the-scenes administrative responsibilities.

​

Laura moved to Longmont in 2019, where she lives with her husband, John Marc, and their two children, Molly and Henry. She continues to enjoy her time with ShoeString Players.
